MHRG strongly deplores the killings of the Iraqi people

Written by  Mandaean Human Rights Group

The Mandaean Human Rights Group strongly deplores the killings, violence, and detention of the Iraqi people who are demanding their basic and just human rights in safety, work and providing the basic level of well-being appropriate with the GDP of the Iraqi state and Iraq resources.
Our group calls for respect for the safety of the demonstrators considering that the peaceful demonstration is a fundamental human right and a basic necessity of constitutional democracy Listening to the demands of the people is a must and duty for any ruling government.
We call for accountability of all those who participated in the killing or harm of the demonstrators in the current movement. Respect for the right of the Iraqi people to peaceful expression for a free and dignified life without any distinction based on political, ethnic, religious or sectarian affiliation is a constitutional and universal human right guaranteed in all international laws, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that was ratified by Iraq.
We call on the Iraqi government and the Iraqi parliament and all responsible and influential parties in Iraqi society to work to ensure that these rights are respected constitutionally and practically. It is imperative to overcome the mistakes of the previous era and change what is not compatible with the demands of the descent of Iraqi people.
Our group calls on the state to fight administrative and political corruption on all levels including the parliamentary elections. We ask to abolish the abhorrent sectarian quotas and all that prevents the people from expressing themselves and their demands in free and properly elected democratic institutions.
Our group believes that decent living in our country of origin Iraq is still possible by consolidating the spirit of citizenship based on equality and belonging to one country and the fight against rampant corruption in all aspects of the Iraqi society. The building of infrastructure directed mainly to build a decent Iraqi human, educated, respected, free and guaranteed future for him and his children is the only way forward for the Iraqi people.
